Dr. S. S. Dhaka (1962) obtained M. A. in Political Science from Jawaharlal Nehru University in 1983, MLISc. In 1988 and Ph. D in Library & Information Science in 2002 from University of Delhi. He started his professional career at National Museum of India. New Delhi as an Assistant Librarian in 1988. He joined Rajdhani College, University of Delhi as Librarian in December 1989. After working at Rajdhani College for 17 years, he was appointed Director (Library & Information) in the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi in 2007.
He is a visiting faculty at Meera Bai Polytechnic, Department of Technical Education, Government of NCT of Delhi. He is a life member of India Library Association (ILA), Delhi Library Association (DLA), IASLIC, MANLIBNET, Special Library Association (USA) and Delhi Mountaineering Association.
Dr. Dhaka visited several countries of Asia, Africa, America and Europe. He has got published several papers in national and international Journals and three books to his credit. He attended several National and International Conferences held in India and abroad. He actively participated in IFLA activities and elected as Chair of Government Information & Official Publication Section (GIOPS) during 2011-2015. Dr. Dhaka is founder President of Asian Library Association. He is also elected as President of Special Library Association’s Asian Chapter 2016-17.
